Ryan Bass, Video Journalist
From the time he was 11, Ryan knew exactly what he wanted to do when he grew up: work in the world of sports. Born in Miami, FL, Ryan was raised on the columns and sports writing of Dan Le Batard and others in the Miami Herald, and always aspired to be a sports journalist. Ryan now brings his hard-working, South Florida personality to the Bright House Sports Network team.
Prior to BHSN, Ryan broke into the business in June of 2011, accepting a news anchor/producer job with the Independent News Network in Davenport, Iowa after college. There, he was the main anchor for KLAX-TV in Alexandria, Louisiana and Indiana 9 news in Southern Indiana. Ryan also appeared on TV stations in Montgomery, Reno, Detroit, Boston and Gainesville, just to name a few. After eight long months, Ryan made his way to the Bay area with BHSN, and couldn't be happier to be back home in the sunshine state!
Ryan graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Journalism. At UCF, he anchored his own television show, "The Sports Report" on UCFTV. He also has experience on radio, where he hosted his own sports-talk radio show for four years in college on WKNT, and in newspaper, where he was a staff writer and sports editor for UCF's student newspaper, the Central Florida Future.
One of Ryan's proudest moments in life came during his senior year at UCF, when he was accepted into the internship program at ESPN. Ryan served as a Production Assistant at ESPN's headquarters in Bristol, CT, where he produced highlights for shows like "Sportscenter" and "Baseball Tonight". Ryan was one of two interns chosen out of 3,000 applicants for the position.
Ryan is also a proud alum of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. When not on the air, he enjoys watching his favorite sports teams play, cooking, facebooking and going to the beach. He also loves visiting his family in South Florida. Ryan is also an avid tweeter. Find him on twitter: @Ry_Bass.
