Mark Robinson

Mark Robinson, Football Expert

From football, to kids, to broadcasting, Mark Robinson has made an impact in Tampa Bay. No one "fooled" Mark to get him to Tampa on April 1, 1988, but on that day he was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In his first season as a Buc and fifth season in the NFL, Mark became an instant leader and helped revitalize a porous Buccaneer defense. During his five years with the Bucs, Mark was a two-year defensive captain. Mark's intelligence and aggressive style enabled him to become a standout playmaker on the Buccaneer's defense.

Mark earned his undergraduate degree in finance while playing at Penn State. During his junior season in 1982, Mark and his Nittany Lion teammates won the college national championship, defeating the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. Mark compiled 11 tackles and two interceptions and was named the defensive player of the game.

While playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mark earned his MBA at Rockhurst College and discovered his passion for working with kids. Much of Mark's offseasons were spent working with schools and youth groups. In 1995, Mark and his wife wanted to become more directly involved with kids and decided to open Safety Harbor Montessori Academy. Mark and Melinda continue to be involved on a daily basis with their students.

Mark made his broadcasting career debut in Tampa, hosting the first season of the Xtra Point television show on Vision Cable, and he continued in that position for 15 years.

Mark has also hosted the Buccaneers Radio Post-Game Show and the Channel 13 Monday Morning Quarterback Show. In addition, Mark has been a broadcaster for high school football and basketball, and for the past 10 years he has been an analyst for ESPN Radio and the University of South Florida Bulls football team.

Mark loves to golf and fish in his spare time. Mark and his wife, Melinda, have three beautiful daughters--Jordan, Jasmine and Haley.
