Despina Barton, Video Journalist

Despina Barton joined the Bright House Sports Network Team as a Video Journalist in February of 2012. 

She makes the transition to the editorial side of sports after serving as the Marketing Coordinator for the Central Florida area. 

Despina spent time as an Associate Producer with Ivanhoe Broadcast News, part of the Production Team with FoxSports Florida covering the Orlando Magic and as a freelancer worked with ESPN, TNT, and NBA Entertainment on various national events.

Growing up with a twin brother Despina was introduced to sports early on. Though her professional basketball career did not come to fruition she now gets her fulfillment by showcasing the talent and drive of student-athletes all around Central Florida. 

Despina graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Radio/Television Broadcast and a minor in Political Science.

You can find her organizing company-wide basketball games and taking morning jogs around Orlando’s beautiful and plentiful lakes.

She also enjoys traveling to new cities, trying unique foods and finding the best live music in town. During the summer Despina plans to volunteer for the YMCA and coach youth basketball.

Despina aspires to become an on-air journalist for the National Basketball Association.
