Peter Caggiano, Meterologist
Covering Florida weather for more than six years, Peter Caggiano joined the Central Florida News 13 Weather On The 1’s team in November 2007.
Caggiano comes to News 13 most recently from the ABC affiliate in Gainesville, Florida with significant experience covering “hurricane country” including the very familiar '04 hurricane season with Charlie, Jeanne and Francis.
“I like the challenge of trying to predict what will happen in the future.” says Caggiano. ”I enjoy getting to use the latest technology to analyze the complex weather patterns of Central Florida.”
Caggiano is very familiar with Central Florida Weather. His family moved to Orlando shortly after he graduated high school in North Carolina. Peter split his time between Orlando and Tallahassee during his college years at Florida State University. While in school, Peter had the opportunity to work as intern for the National Weather Service and Florida’s News Channel in Tallahassee. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from FSU, Caggiano worked at the ABC affiliate in Dothan, Alabama.
His passion for sports includes basketball, tennis and swimming. Peter also enjoys reading and playing at the many local theme parks and attractions in Central Florida.
Peter Caggiano is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
