Dave D'Marko, Lake-Marion-Sumter County Reporter
Dave started his broadcast journalism career in Florida as an intern. Now, more than a decade later, Dave D’Marko returns to the Sunshine State as a general assignment reporter for News 13.
Dave D’Marko came to News 13 from his native state of Ohio, where he worked six year as a producer and reporter for the award winning NBC affiliate, WDTN, in Dayton. Dave covered such notable stories as the closure of the town’s General Motors plant, the toddler found at a rest stop who had witnessed his mother’s murder, and the Christmas blizzard.
Prior to WDTN, Dave first reported in Albany, Ga. where his coverage of deadly tornadoes as well as the state’s peanut crop earned him multiple awards.
Dave attended Northwestern University where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Journalism. In addition to his internship in West Palm Beach, Fla., Dave also had the opportunity to intern with NBC Nightly News bureau in Chicago as well as with the Medill News Service in Washington, D.C.
Dave enjoys his role as a reporter because “it gives him the opportunity to uncover the news and meet people along the way.”
When not on the air or at home with his wife and two young children, you’ll likely find Dave playing guitar, baseball, or working on his golf swing.
