Staying Safe In Cold Weather

Cold weather at this time of year helps to make it feel more like winter. However, cold weather can be dangerous.
Orange County Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone of the following safety recommendations for cold temperatures.
Dress Warmly And Stay Dry
Wear hats and mittens and several layers of loose-fitting clothing.
Be Safe During Recreation
Don't overdo it. Avoid becoming overtired, and watch for signs of cold-weather health problems.
Stay Active
Keeping in good shape will help you participate in activities such as outdoor recreation. Take it easy at first with a warmup, and stretch after finishing.
Recognize Cold-Weather Injuries
Know the symptoms and fist aid for hypothermia and frostbite. Read More
Understand Wind Chill
Be aware of the wind chill factor, serious weather-related problems are more likely.
