DAYTONA BEACH -- The father of Casey Anthony is in the hospital following a suicide scare.
George Anthony was reported missing Thursday night after failing to show up for a meeting with his lawyer and wife. He was found early Friday morning at the Hawaii Motel in Daytona Beach.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office was contacted and used GPS technology and pings off Anthony's cell phone to locate him in Daytona Beach.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office and Daytona Beach police were contacted to help aid in the search.
Anthony was taken to Halifax Medical Center where he's currently undergoing a mental evaluation under the Baker Act.
The Baker Act, also known as the Florida Mental Health Act of 1971, allows for involuntary examination by medical professionals.
Anthony had apparently been sending family members text messages, threatening to harm himself.
Authorities found family photos and medication inside the motel room. A partially written suicide note was found in his car.
He could be hospitalized under the Baker Act for up to 72 hours.
Cindy Anthony arrived at the hospital Friday afternoon to visit her husband.
She told investigators George was upset and depressed about the death of their granddaughter.
She said she asked her husband the day before to pick out some jewelry for Caylee for her funeral, and that may have made him even more depressed.
Meanwhile, it was a mainly quiet day at the family's Orange County home.
Some people showed up just to see what's happening. One person visiting Florida said the day's events compelled him to swing by.
He said he feels for what George and the entire Anthony family is going through.
“Well I didn't believe what was going on when you see it in Michigan. All the news people here and I look at myself as a man his age and I just think 'boy I'd hate to have this going on in my life.' I would love to just sit down with this man and pray with him because I think a lot of people are just passing judgment,” said Doug Beckett.
The family’s home, along with the nearby scene where Caylee's remains were found, have turned into a tourist attraction in recent months, with many showing up just to see the area in person.
911 Call Released
On Friday, deputies released the 911 call as Brad Conway, the Anthony family's lawyer, first called to report George missing.
Conway: "I just spoke with John Allen with the Orange County Sheriff's Office."
Dispatcher: "OK."
Conway: "George Anthony has been gone since 8:30 this morning and he has taken several bottles of medication from his house, as well as some pictures, and we're worried that he's done something to himself."
The dispatcher then took a detailed description of George and dispatched a deputy to the house, which is when the official search for him began.
Baez Not Commenting
Casey Anthony's attorney Jose Baez said he won't be commenting on the events surrounding George.
Baez showed up at the Orange County Jail late Friday morning, but said the visit was not in reaction to what happened to Casey's father.
Baez himself has come under fire this week when he denied allegations he's taking money for entertainment deals surrounding the case.
However, published reports have also come out about complaints about Baez to the Florida bar.
Baez filed new motions in the case Thursday, including a request to get records from the search group Texas EquuSearch.
Those arguments are set to be heard in court on Jan. 30.
Judge: Casey Must Appear At All Court Proceedings
Casey won't be able to skip any more of her upcoming court hearings.
On Friday, the judge hearing the case ruled Casey must attend all court proceedings.
A judge ordered her to appear in court the last time, even though her lawyer had said Casey waived her right.
The judge said her waiving her rights could create future problems.
