LAKE COUNTY -- New proposed water regulations in Lake County could force residents to conserve even more because of the dry conditions.
Water managers said the fires in Brevard County are prompting some of this change.
They said they're concerned about water shortages throughout the county, mostly since people are using so much water for lawn watering.
Right now, Lake County has pretty tight water restrictions, only allowing residents to water lawns and gardens twice a week, and even then, only during certain times of day.
"The majority of the water that we use unfortunately still goes outside. And this time of year, when you have high temperatures and low humidity, evaporation rates start going through the roof and it's not as efficient as it could have been before," said Michael Perry from the Lake County Water Authority.
New regulations would only allow watering only once a week.
Anyone caught violating the rules could face fines.
