ORLANDO -- A football player for the University of Central Florida collapsed during a weightlifting session.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, it happened Wednesday morning on campus to freshman running back Brandon Davis.
He was rushed to Florida Hospital East and treated for dehydration.
University officials said he was taken to the hospital so he could get an IV. He will be kept overnight.
Davis’ collapse comes after another football player collapsed and died during conditioning drills in March.
Erick Plancher’s family and some anonymous players have been critical of the school for not doing enough to help Plancher after he collapsed.
The school released statements in November saying they not only noticed Plancher was struggling on the field, but they started CPR and even tried to use an AED to shock him when he stopped responding.
Plancher’s family is still planning a wrongful death lawsuit.
