ORLANDO -- Concerned members of one Orange County community are stepping up efforts to stop crime.
The second of three rallies against violence In Pine Hills takes place Friday night in the wake of three murders just this week.
The participants are hoping this new effort will bring lasting solutions.
At Thursday's rally, Terrance Toliver, 17, told a crowd of strangers about one of the scariest moments of his life -- a day in which two boys made him stand against a wall as they pointed a gun at his cousin.
"Two boys came from behind. And put a gun to his back," Toliver recalled. "He said, 'If you move, I'll shoot you.' I could have been dead. I could have been gone."
Toliver is a resident of Pine Hills and hopes that speaking out will help others take action.
"I hope so it can make a difference, but I'm not sure. This thing keeps going on -- people getting shot, and getting robbed, and getting killed," Toliver said.
The violence in Pine Hills inspired the group K.N.E.C. to hold these rallies.
Jasmine Browne said she thinks the problems in Pine Hills are a problem for everybody. She said she hopes people who don't live there will offer help.
"We bring help and make revenue for other people. We just wish we would have them help revitalize this community, so we can all be successful," Browne said.
She said that one way to do that is by being a role model to children who live in Pine Hills.
More rallies are planned for Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the J-Mart plaza at Hiawassee Road and Silver Star Road.
